WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
A chemical peel is a cosmetic procedure that aims to improve the appearance of your skin by removing the outermost layers, revealing a fresh, rejuvenated complexion.

During a chemical peel, a customized solution that is discussed and determined as the best fit for you, consisting of various acids and other active ingredients, is applied to your face. These ingredients work together to exfoliate and remove damaged or dead skin cells, promote cellular turnover, and stimulate collagen and elastin production. These essential proteins contribute to the firmness, elasticity, and overall health of your skin.
Before having a chemical peel, your skin will be assessed, and I will discuss your concerns and goals and recommend the most appropriate peel for you.
After the treatment, you can expect your skin to undergo a process of renewal and healing. The treated area may initially appear red and feel sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Over the following days and weeks (depending on the strength), the old skin will slough off, revealing smoother, healthier skin underneath.
To optimize your results and ensure a safe recovery, following the post-treatment instructions is crucial. These instructions include avoiding direct sunlight, using gentle skincare products, and applying sunscreen frequently. See Post-Care Instructions Here
BENEFITS OF A CHEMCIAL PEEL:
It is important to note that specific benefits and outcomes of a chemical peel can vary depending on various factors, such as the type of peel, the depth of the treatment, the number of treatments, and individual skin characteristics, as well as at-home skin care maintenance.

-
Skin exfoliation - removing dead skin cells revealing fresher, smoother skin
-
Promotes cellular turnover
-
Improves skin texture, tone, and clarity
-
Promotes collagen and elastin production
-
Reduces wrinkles and fine lines
-
Helps acne - reduces inflammation and oil control, and diminishes acne breakouts and scars
-
Minimizes pore size - helps tighten and minimize the appearance of enlarged pores
-
Enhanced skincare product absorption - by removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells, chemical peels allow skincare products to penetrate more effectively into the deeper layers of your skin.
WHAT TYPES OF CHEMICAL PEELS ARE THERE?
The type of chemical peel used will depend on your specific skin concerns and desired outcomes nad downtime. There are three main types of chemical peels:

1. Superficial or light peel
-
This targets the outermost layer of your skin and is suitable for addressing mild skin imperfections like uneven tone, rough texture, and some superficial scars. It provides gentle exfoliation and requires minimal to no downtime.

2. Medium Peel
-
This depth penetrates deeper into the middle layers of your skin. It effectively addresses moderate skin concerns such as deeper wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. A medium peel may involve a slightly longer recovery period, and your skin may appear red and flaky during the healing process.

3. Deep Peel
-
This is the most intense type of chemical peel, reaching the deep layers of your skin. It is used for significant skin rejuvenation, targeting severe wrinkles, deep scars, and extensive sun damage. A deep peel generally requires a more extended recovery period, during which your skin may experience significant redness, peeling, and sensitivity. These types of peels are typically done in MedSpas or Physician offices
